Alexandra Delgado presents the Gijón Urban Naturalization Master Plan at the GUD Seminar

On October 22, PhD Architect Alexandra Delgado Jiménez participated as a featured speaker at the GUD Seminar, an international meeting coordinated by Prof. Marichela Sepe (DICEA Sapienza, GUDesign Network). The seminar focused on the Urban Naturalization Master Plan of Gijón/Xixón, a pioneering project for climate change mitigation and adaptation through green infrastructure.

As the director of the Plan and founder of AD ARQUITECTURA URBANA, Dr. Delgado Jiménez presented the regulatory framework, strategic objectives, and expected benefits of this initiative. The Plan is defined as an integrative and multi-scale strategy that seeks to transform Gijón into a "city that breathes" by the year 2045.

During her presentation, the six master lines of the project were detailed:

Strategy S: Participation and social justice.

Strategy B: Increase in biodiversity.

Strategy P: Permeability of urban areas.

Strategy R: Renaturalization of the city.

Strategy C: Creation of environmental corridors.

Strategy A: Tree planting plan.

The meeting also included the participation of Alejandro Navazas (Gijón City Council) and architect Maria Gilda Martino, establishing a space for technical dialogue on urban resilience and the circular economy of natural resources.
